In only 2 1/2 weeks, my dear friends Matt & Victoria are tying the knot. I know I JUST posted their daughter’s first birthday shoot but I wanted to make sure I got their engagement photos blogged. I took the photos for their save the date cards all the way back in January but didn’t have a blog then so now I need to make up for lost time. This was certainly a very fun photo shoot for me, especially since these two will go for almost any crazy idea I have. I think they may have climbed on every single fence, gate and wall within walking distance of where we parked the car. Like almost every other person I have ever photographed, Matt needed a bit of direction as to what to do. I was quite happy to suggest that he kiss Victoria, grab her butt and dip her under the tree — and I’m pretty sure he was happy to oblige me.
We were joking about trying to find some horses to take photos with since we were in an equestrian park and Victoria had her cowgirl boots on. The light was getting gorgeous and golden when I saw a couple leading their horses around a bend. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I asked the couple if we could take a few photos with one of their horses. Sometimes being crazy has its advantages as Victoria got the horse she wanted — they even let me choose which of their two horses went better with the couple 😉
Our goal was to get a couple of cute photos for their save the date cards and once we had *the* photo of them on the fence, it was time to get some cute photos of the happy couple just because. The sun setting over the field was just gorgeous and I managed to get a few spectacular sun flare photos. It was absolutely magical. I definitely need to remember to share their photos whenever I’m trying to explain to someone why I love making photos best during the late afternoon/early evening hours (especially during ‘golden hour’).
It’s a good thing their wedding is almost here because I absolutely cannot wait to photograph it! Especially since the bride ordered special boots to go under her dress.
